What is the best Promptly alternative in 2026?

There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one is selling something. Promptly does three things: rewrites a rough prompt with Ctrl+M, saves prompts to a side panel, and exports conversations. Any replacement has to beat it on at least one of those, or add something Promptly does not attempt.

Before the alternatives, the part most roundups skip. Promptly is doing well, and it beats us on the numbers that people check first.

Same star rating, 6.6x the ratings, 60x the installs. Promptly is also free with no account required, per its own homepage. I run the competing product and I am not going to pretend those facts away. Why do people look for a Promptly alternative?

Five reasons, all sourced from Promptly's own pages and store listings rather than from reviews, because the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I read the visible Chrome Web Store reviews on August 26, 2026 and found no negative ones on the first page.

1. There are at least three different extensions called Promptly. On the Chrome Web Store on August 26, 2026: the promptly.fyi one (60,000 users, developer contact promptly.ai.fyi@gmail.com), one by Enter the Resonance LLC (5.0 from 10 ratings, 117 users, v1.0, last updated October 9, 2024), and one by Kenneth Hendricks (0 ratings, 3 users, v1.1.0, March 17, 2026). A fourth lives at promptlyextension.com. Separate companies also trade as Promptly in no-code AI app building and in patient engagement software. A good share of "promptly alternative" searches are really "I installed the wrong Promptly."

2. It is a text-chat tool. The Chrome listing names ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek and Copilot; the homepage adds Perplexity. Image prompts, video prompts, and prompt access from inside a code editor are not published capabilities. That is a scope decision, not a flaw, but it is the wall people hit.

3. No paid plan is published. promptly.fyi/pricing returned a 404 on August 26, 2026, and the homepage says "100% Free." Great for an individual. A harder conversation when you are asking a team to standardize on it.

4. Library portability is undocumented. Conversation export is documented (Ctrl+E, plus a blog post on it). A prompt-library export or import format is not published on the pages I could read. Check the extension's settings yourself before assuming either way.

5. The non-Chrome builds are behind. The site says Firefox and Edge are supported. On addons.mozilla.org on August 26, 2026, "Promptly AI" sat at v0.1.9, last updated February 7, 2025; "Promptly AI New" at v0.2.8 from June 8, 2025. Chrome was at v0.6.0 from July 31, 2026.

Pick this if: you want thousands of ready-made SEO, sales and copywriting prompts and you live inside ChatGPT.

The Chrome listing showed 3.9 stars from 3.4K ratings, 1,000,000+ users, v1.4.7.23, last updated July 28, 2026 (checked August 26, 2026). It advertises 4,500+ one-click prompts, prompt variables, custom profiles, and Teams for shared libraries. The listing declares in-app purchases, and aiprm.com/pricing/ states that "All customers can test the free version for an unlimited time."

Honest caveat on the money: I could not read AIPRM's actual price table. The page renders its tiers in a format that did not come through as text on August 26, 2026, and the only dollar figures in the page text appear inside an FAQ example about buying multiple plans. So I am not quoting an AIPRM price. Check it yourself. A million installs against a sub-4 rating is also worth ten minutes in the review tab before you commit.

3. Superpower for ChatGPT — for organizing the chats, not just the prompts

Pick this if: your real problem is 800 unsorted ChatGPT conversations, not prompt quality.

This is the clearest case in the list of a tool beating us at something. We do not manage your chat history. Superpower does, well.

4. AI Prompt Genius — for free, open source, and your own data

Pick this if: you will not build a library inside a closed product you cannot inspect.

The listing showed 3.3 stars from 161 ratings, 100,000+ users, v5.0.2, last updated July 29, 2026, published by AI Prompt Genius LLC. It describes itself as free and open source with the source on GitHub, and lists folders, tags, prompt variables with dropdown and number types, cross-device sync, import/export, custom themes and 13 languages. No paid tier is published on aipromptgenius.app.

That 3.3 rating is the lowest here and I am not going to bury it. Open source plus a large install base is a real advantage; read the recent one-star reviews before you migrate a thousand prompt templates into it.

5. Velocity — for pure one-click enhancement, nothing else

Pick this if: Promptly's Ctrl+M is the only feature you use and you want a specialist.

Now listed as "Prompt Assistant: Velocity AI, One click enhancement for ChatGPT, Claude" by Totem Interactive: 5.0 from 15 ratings, 1,000 users, v4.0.2, last updated August 20, 2026 (listing). Pick this if: you paste the same text into Gmail, Salesforce and a helpdesk as often as into ChatGPT.

The listing showed 4.9 stars from 1.9K ratings, 800,000 users, v3.3.16, last updated August 25, 2026. Snippets fire from keyboard shortcuts anywhere in the browser, with form fields, formulas, date math and team sharing. Text Blaze does not rewrite prompts with AI, and that is the trade. It is deterministic text expansion. How do I move my prompts out of Promptly?

Start by checking Promptly's own settings for an export option. As of August 26, 2026 a prompt-library export format is not published on its site or store listing, but the extension is the authority on its own features and it ships updates.

If there is no export button, the manual route takes about twenty minutes for a few dozen prompts:

1. Open the Promptly side panel (Ctrl+Alt+S per the listing) and widen it.
2. Copy each saved prompt into a single plain-text scratch file, one per block, separated by a line of three dashes.
3. Run the file through the prompt below to get clean structured output.
4. Import the resulting JSON into whichever tool you picked, or paste each entry in by hand if it has no importer.
