TL;DR: Good interior render prompts and architecture image prompts share one craft, whatever model you use: verticals kept parallel instead of converging, a light and time of day chosen on purpose, and materials named by product, oak, travertine, brushed brass, instead of "modern." Below: 27 copy-paste prompts across ten shot types, from a whole-room interior to a before/after renovation concept.

Why Do Verticals Make or Break an Interior or Architecture Shot?
Point a wide lens up at a tall facade, or across a room toward a high ceiling, and the vertical lines lean toward each other the higher they go, the same keystoning you get pointing a phone camera up at a building. It's the fastest tell that separates a snapshot from something that reads as considered. A real architectural photographer corrects it with a shift or tilt-shift lens, or in post.
Write "verticals kept parallel, no keystoning, no converging lines" into the prompt itself. Don't reach for the word "tilt-shift" to ask for that correction: our own camera and lens terms guide found that phrase pulls most image models toward a miniature-diorama look instead, not the perspective correction a real lens by that name is built for. Name what you want the verticals to do, not the tool that would do it on set.
Why Does "Wide" Turn Into Fisheye So Easily?
Interior shots are almost always wide, because a room is a box you're standing inside of and a narrow lens can't fit the walls in frame. But "wide" alone drifts toward the exaggerated barrel curve of a fisheye far more easily indoors than it does outdoors, because an image model has seen plenty of real-estate photos captured on genuinely ultra-wide, borderline-fisheye lenses and files them all under the same loose idea of "wide interior."
Name an actual focal length instead of the word "wide": 20 to 24mm reads as a wide interior shot without curving; below that, distortion becomes the point rather than an accident. If a corner shot still bows at the edges, add "no barrel distortion, straight lines at the edges of frame" and it usually settles down.
Why Do Light and Staging Matter More Than Any Material Keyword?
Two things separate an image that reads as a real, occupied place from one that reads as a render, and neither is a material name.
The first is light direction and time of day, which do more work than almost anything else in the prompt. The second is staging. An empty room, however well lit, tends to read as a render, because real rooms hold traces of use: a throw over an arm, a book left open, a cup on a counter. One or two lived-in details do more to sell an image as a photograph than any amount of extra material description.
Which Template Should You Reach For, and What Does Each One Need?
The templates below are organised by what's actually in frame, not by which design discipline made it, because the craft that makes a room or a building read as real is the same craft either way.

What Do Whole-Room Interior Prompts Look Like?
A whole-room shot has one job: show the space the way a buyer or a client would actually stand and see it, not a cropped fragment of it.

How Do Kitchen and Bathroom Prompts Differ From a Living Room?
Kitchens and bathrooms carry hard, reflective surfaces, tile, stone, metal fixtures, glazed cabinet fronts, that a living room mostly doesn't. A reflective surface needs a light source to reflect or it reads as flat plastic, so these prompts should always name where the light is coming from, not just how bright it is. Bathrooms have one extra trap: a vanity mirror facing straight into an unnamed light source tends to blow out into a harsh white patch, so say "no harsh vanity-mirror glare" if you want the mirror to stay a mirror.

What Do Exterior Elevation Prompts Look Like?
An elevation is the building read flat-on or near-flat-on, the shot where converging verticals are most visible and least forgivable.

How Do You Put a Building in Its Street Context?
A street-context shot puts the viewer where a pedestrian would actually stand, which means the building shares the frame with a sidewalk, a tree, a neighbour, and needs those elements handled with restraint, not piled on.

What Do Lobby and Commercial Space Prompts Look Like?
A lobby or commercial interior mixes daylight from a storefront with architectural lighting deeper in the space, and it's usually the one interior template where a person genuinely belongs in frame, kept small and undirected, purely for scale.

A materials board isn't a room at all; it's a flat arrangement that lets a client react to a palette before a single wall exists, which is exactly why the craft rule against overloading materials matters most here.

How Do You Prompt the Same Room at Different Times of Day?
A lighting study is one room, one camera position, held identical across three or four images, with only the light allowed to change. Lock everything else or you're comparing two different rooms, not two different lights.

What Do Before/After Renovation Concept Prompts Look Like?
A before/after pair only convinces if the "after" reads as the same room, not a different one. That means an identical camera position and an identical light in both images; the renovation is the only variable allowed to move.

How Do You Make a Small Space Read as Larger?
A small room reads larger through the same tricks a real photographer and a real stager both reach for: a wide-but-not-fisheye angle that shows the whole footprint, even bright light with no dark corners to shrink the space visually, and exactly one mirror doing real optical work. A second or third mirror stops multiplying the sense of space and starts looking like a hall of mirrors, which is the tell that gives away a generated image trying too hard.

Can You Use One of These Images for a Real Listing or a Client Handover?
No, and this is the point in the post to be direct about it rather than leave it implied.
A generated image is not a design and not a photograph of a real place. It has no dimensions, no structure, and no code compliance behind it, and a more careful prompt adds none of those things. OpenAI's own limitations list for its GPT Image models names this precisely, under its own "Composition Control" heading: "the model may have difficulty placing elements precisely in structured or layout-sensitive compositions" (OpenAI image generation guide, accessed September 2, 2026). A floor plan, a section, or a construction drawing is exactly that kind of composition. That means these prompts are for concept, mood, and an early client conversation, not for a construction document, a planning submission, or a property listing. The property-listing case deserves its own line, because it's the one most likely to happen by accident: a generated image of "a kitchen like this one" is not a photograph of the actual kitchen a buyer or tenant will walk into, and presenting it as if it were is a misrepresentation problem, not a style choice. It doesn't matter how good the render looks. Real estate advertising rules differ by market and by professional body, so we're not going to invent one here; check your own board's current rules before a generated image goes anywhere near a live listing.

This is ordinary hallucination, applied to a building instead of a fact: the model has never seen your actual site, your actual client's actual kitchen, or your actual client, and it will confidently supply one that doesn't exist.
Which Image Model Should You Point These At?
Any current image model handles this vocabulary, because the craft, verticals, focal length, named light, named material, describes real photography, and every major model trained on millions of captioned real photographs the same way. What differs between tools is the control that sets aspect ratio, not the words that make the image convincing.
The --ar flag above is Midjourney's own shorthand. On a different tool, set the equivalent field yourself, a size picker, a resolution field, an aspect-ratio dropdown, rather than writing the ratio into the prompt text; on every surface we checked, ratio is its own setting, never a sentence.
